Laurie grew up in Southern California but traveling has been an integral part of her life, including to China, Australia, Europe and South America. She received a B.A. degree from UCLA and has studied art in many cities including NYU, Cleveland Art Institute, Otis Art Institute, Saddleback College and the Printmaking Center of Santa Fe.
Currently, she has a monotype in a Memorial Portfolio to 9/11, curated by the American Print Alliance, which has been traveling around the U.S. since September 2002. She also had a piece selected for a November 2004 exchange show in New York City--LAPS and NY Society of Etchers. Her work is in many collections.
My art begins with inspiration--an idea or image that delights or challenges. I determine which medium will best lend itself to the
communication of that idea. For line and texture, perhaps a linocut or woodblock. For playing with color, I choose viscosity etching
and monotypes. The experimental nature of printmaking is magic!
